Comment on this model.
Hamm is part of the Wirtgen
Group of companies. The Hamm 3412 HT P is a
padfoot
vibratory compactor with an operating weight of around
12 tonnes. It is used for earthworks compaction.
This version is the 'Agri Compactor' version with double
rear tyres and amended paint and graphics, and the
nomenclature hints at agricultural applications.
Packaging
It comes in a
specially branded Hamm branded box (which is unusual for
a limited edition) and it has a few technical
details about the real machine. It is held within
two expanded polystyrene trays, and wrapped in soft
paper.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
The model is
delivered in a single rear tyre configuration.
Extra wheels and a long axle are provided together with
an instruction sheet to enable conversion to a double
tyre arrangement.
Detail
Underneath, the detail is simple with the steering
hydraulic rams visible. The metal wheels have nice
rubber treaded tyres.
The body casting is good with the grilles delineated and
the graphics are sharp with some being very
small.
The
cab has a thin metal structure with metal grab rails.
Inside the seat and controls and are modelled well. Silvered steps lead to the cab and there
is a fuel filler pipe.
The metal drum has a very good padfoot pattern, and the frame is
well detailed and looks convincing.
Features
The rubber tyres
roll well and the drum turns smoothly.
The pivoted steering works well achieving an angle close
to the 35º that the real machine achieves.
The model can be configured with either a single or
double tyred rear axle.
Quality
This is a smaller model which is heavy with
little plastic used.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
This is an
unusual variant of a typical padfoort compactor and is
an attractive looking heavy model. It is well up
to NZG's usual quality standards and is recommended.
Footnotes
The model first appeared
at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2013 as a limited edition
of 300 models.
