Comment on this model.
The Dynapac SD2500WS is a wheeled
paver with a hydraulically extendible screed up to 5.1m
in width, and a maximum laying width of 9m. The
machine can lay up to 700 tonnes per hour in a thickness
up to 300mm. All six wheels on the paver are
driven.
The model is in the colours of the Swedish company
Atlas Copco which celebrated its 140 year
anniversary in 2013. It owns the Dynapac brand
which it acquired in 2007.
Packaging
The model comes in an Atlas Copco branded box and it has some
specification details about the real machine. The model is
contained between a pair of polystyrene
trays.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no assembly to do, and no information about the
model is supplied.
Detail
Underneath there is a large material auger visible, but
it is non functioning. The rubber tyres have a
convincing tread pattern and nicely detailed hubs.
The hopper sides are metal as is the material conveyor,
although it all looks pretty good, and there is a
pivoting bar with rollers to engage the wheels of a
discharging tipper truck.
The operator's area is of a good standard with a diamond
plated floor and a couple of seats. The control
console is particularly finely detailed and the canopy
above is metal. There are plastic steps leading
down to the screed and gas battles stand on either side.
The screed is a mixture of plastic and metal, with more
diamond plate surfacing, and there are excellent control
consoles on each end. Most of the hand railing on
the model is metal.
Features
The wheels roll smoothly although there is no steering.
For displaying in a transport mode, the hopper sides can close
up and can pose at any intermediate position.
The canopy roof also folds down to lower the headroom
and a linkage achieves the same with the exhaust pipe.
The whole screed can be raised and lowered using stiff
hydraulic cylinders so any height can be set, and the
access stairs from the operator's platform pivot to
follow the screed. Each side of the screed can be
opened up for width with clever multi stage cylinders.
The whole of the operator's platform slides from side to
side to give the operator a better view forward, and the
operator's console also slides on a bar and can be set
on either side.
Quality
This is a high quality model which is
pleasantly heavy without too much plastic. The
paintwork and graphics are sharp.
Price
The model is good value for money.
Overall
This is another good paver model from NZG. It would have
been nice if the smaller wheels had steering and a few
more graphics would have added to the realism. It
poses well with other models and is highly recommended.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the BAUMA Exhibition 2013.
It was originally introduced in Dynapac colours as model
#842.
