The Scania Hauber T580 is an 8x4
tractor and this version is in the colours of Goldhofer
to match their trailer models.
For this review the Scania is paired with an XLE trailer
which is separately reviewed
here.
Packaging
The packaging is a Goldhofer branded windowed box with
the model held within good quality foam rubber. There
were no missing parts on the review
model but one of the perforated covers on the exhaust
was detached.
Roof aerials and mirrors have to be fitted although some
parts were too loose and some too tight for the holes in
the body.
There is no information about the model or real tractor.
Detail
Underneath the detail is basic with just the rear two
axles having some transmission and suspension elements
modelled. The plastic wheel hubs are reasonable
and differently treaded tyres are mounted on the
steering and non-steering wheels. The tread on the
tyres at the rear is not so good.
The detail around the cab is good with nice lights and
the usual door mirrors and wipers as well as beacon
lights and air horns. Under the hood there is a
metal engine which is coarsely detailed.
Behind the cab the exhaust stacks are good with
perforated mufflers. The finish on the chrome
equipment tower is not the best but a couple of coiled
air lines add detail.
Diamond plating covers the wheel arches and the lights
at the rear are painted.
Features
The front two axles have linked steering but the range
of movement is very restricted because the front tyres
foul the wheel arches. The rear driven axles have
a pivoting suspension mechanism.
The hood opens to reveal the engine although it will not
retain an open pose.
Quality
This is a reasonable quality tractor which is mainly
metal.
The paintwork and graphics are of a good standard.
Price
This tractor is fairly price in combination with the XLE
trailer.
Overall
This is a pleasant enough Scania tractor although the
level of detailing and quality is not to the best of
modern standards. It poses well with the matching
XLE trailer and can be recommended.
Footnotes
The model appeared in 2010 and has been paired with
different trailers. This Goldhofer liveried
version was produced to go with the
Goldhofer XLE trailer.
