This model is a Volvo FH4 6x4 with a Goldhofer
SPZ-DL5 Ballast Trailer, and is in the colours of
S.E
Levage, a French crane hire company
Packaging
The WSI branded box is their standard design. Inside,
the model sits in an expanded polystyrene tray with a
clear plastic former and lid.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
The only assembly required
is to join the tractor and trailer together and to fit
the optional deck posts.
Detail
The
Volvo is high quality, with very good
transmission and suspension features on the chassis.
The tyre tread patterns differ on the steering axle, and
the wheels look sharp.
The Volvo front grille looks really good and the lights
and graphics are very nice. On the roof there are
horns, a light bar, beacon lights and stub aerials. Inside the cab, the detail level
is also good.
Under the cab is a detailed engine
bearing the Volvo name.
Behind the cab the exhaust is really good and there are
coiled lines
and an excellent diamond plated walkway and tanks. At the back the rear
lights have plastic lenses.
The trailer
has a detailed chassis and there are tanks and a spare
wheel. The side bars are plastic. The wheels and
tyres are smart.
The trailer deck has plastic replica timber inserts.
Along the sides of the deck there are white stripes
which were not perfectly straight on the review model.
The rear light bar is very good and there is a large
stiff plastic
mud flap.
A separate pack of metal deck posts are provided and
these plug into holes in the deck edge. They can be
stored in a holder at the front of the trailer when not
in use.
Features
The
Volvo has steering but
with very limited lock because the tyres become fouled.
It has a fully tilting cab which poses tilted.
The fifth wheel has some longitudinal adjustment.
The
five axle trailer has very good linked and
proportional steering on axles 2 to 5 steering.
Axle 1 can be raised out of service.
Each axle
has independent working suspension.
Deck posts can be fitted if desired although some sit
loose in their holes and can lean.
Quality
The overall quality level of the model is high with
a high metal content and careful use of plastic.
The
paintwork and Levage graphics are very good.
Price
The model is good value
as a limited edition.
Overall
WSI has produced an attractive model with very nice
detailing and functionality. It would look very
good paired with a crane in Levage colours.
