| Comment on this model.
This classic truck is a DAF 2800 6x4 from the 1970s/80s with a 3-axle classic flatbed trailer.
It is in the colours of the Dutch haulage company Boterbloem.
Packaging
It comes in a standard WSI-branded windowed box with the model held in plastic formers within an expanded polystyrene tray.
There were no missing parts on the review model. One wheel rim was detached and easily re-glued
There are no instructions for the model.
Detail
The DAF chassis is a 6x4 with the transmission and suspension modelled to a high standard including leaf springs on the front axle. The wheels are very detailed with different tyres on the steering and driven axles.
The headboard on the roof seems to mimic photos of the real truck with the second U imperfectly formed. The headlights and grille look realistic and there is an accurate number plate. The Boterbloem graphics on the cab are very good.
The cab interior is two-tone with coloured seats. Under the cab is a detailed engine.
At the back the lights have plastic lenses.
The trailer has a textured deck to represent the hardwood of the original, and holes exist for deck posts but none were included with the model.
Underneath, the chassis is convincing and the suspension detailing is very good. At the front, the landing legs have a winding handle and nice roller wheels. As it is a 'classic' trailer there are no side protection bars. The wheels are finely detailed.
Features
The DAF has steering which turns to a reasonable angle which poses well, but the wheels are fouled at the extreme.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can be posed in the tilted position.
The trailer has spring loaded suspension on the axles, and the landing legs can be screwed up and down.
Quality
This is a high quality model which is well made.
The paintwork and graphics are very good, particularly the cab doors.
Price
The model is reasonable value for a limited edition.
Overall
WSI has produced a realistic replica of a classic DAF and it is a good looking model in Boterbloem colours. It is highly recommended.
Footnotes
The model appeared in May 2015.
